Mineral Glow Herbal Infusion

Herbal infusions are a simple and nourishing way to support the body with concentrated plant compounds, minerals, and hydration. Unlike traditional hot tea, certain herbs do especially well with a long steep (often 4–12+ hours), allowing more minerals, antioxidants, mucilage, and beneficial plant compounds to infuse into the water. We love leveraging the benefits of herbal infusions personally as well as building them into our clients' protocols. Sipping on your herbal infusion is a tasty daily ritual that can support hydration, minerals, digestion, stress resilience, inflammation, and overall well-being.

Our go-to "Mineral Glow" herbal infusion is made with nettles, oat straw, hibiscus and marshmallow root. Check out the recipe + learn more about the benefits of each herb below.

Nettles

Nettle is one of my favorite nourishing herbs because it's naturally rich in minerals like magnesium, calcium, iron, and potassium. It’s often used to support energy, stress resilience, and overall nutrient status while providing gentle support for the body's natural detoxification pathways. It also contains properties that help to lower histamine.

Oatstraw

Oatstraw is considered a deeply nourishing and calming herb for the nervous system. It's rich in minerals (particularly magnesium and calcium) and is often used to support stress resilience, mood, nervous system balance, and overall vitality.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus adds a beautiful tart flavor while providing antioxidants that help to combat oxidative stress. It has traditionally been used to support cardiovascular health and healthy circulation while giving this infusion a vibrant color and refreshing taste.

Marshmallow Root

Marshmallow root contains soothing mucilage compounds that create a slippery, gel-like consistency when infused. These compounds can help support hydration and provide gentle support for soothing and protecting the digestive tract and gut lining.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dried nettle

  • ¼ cup dried oatstraw

  • 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus

  • 3 tablespoons dried marshmallow root

  • 6-8 cups filtered water

 Instructions

  1. Add nettle, oatstraw, hibiscus, and marshmallow root to a large glass mason jar or pitcher.

  2. Pour 6 cups of filtered room temperature or cold water over the herbs.

  3. Stir gently, cover, and place in the refrigerator.

  4. Allow the herbs to steep for 8–12 hours or overnight for a deeper, more concentrated infusion.

  5. Strain using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, pressing gently on the herbs to extract more of the liquid.

  6. Serve over ice and enjoy throughout the day.

Notes

  • The longer the steep time, the stronger and more mineral-rich the infusion becomes.

  • I love this infuser pitcher which removes the step of having to strain the infusion.

  • Marshmallow root may create a slightly silky texture - this is completely normal and comes from its soothing mucilage compounds.

  • Hibiscus naturally gives the infusion a beautiful deep pink-red color and a refreshing tart flavor.

  • Store in the refrigerator and enjoy within 2–3 days.

I love making a fresh batch at night so it’s ready the next morning - an easy way to layer in extra hydration and nourishment without adding another supplement or complicated routine to your day.
